How do i dye just the underneath part of my hair?

i've been dying my hair for ages. i understand the whole thing about stripping hair and so forth. now my hair is kinda short, its a messy bob, its to my chin, and i want to dye it black, but i also want to tip the hair too. its the only thing i dont know how to do really with dying hair. i've never tried it, so i figure i'll just get the facts straight before doing something stupid.. any suggestions?

i currently have black hair, and i want to bleach the bottom layer of hair. i cant do any awesome colors unfortunetly due to my work. but i want to know how to do this.

i have black hair but its down past my shoulders just a little bit, but i just recetly did the underneaeth of my hair about 2 weeks ago,i seperated my hair half up and half down with the amount that i wanted bleached on the bottom, i had bought a regular hair bleaching kit from target and a box of dark red hair dye, first i bleached my hair by following all the directions and then washed it out, i then blow dryed my hair and applyed my dark red hair dye left it on for 25 mins, and then washed it out and did a deep condition on my hair, then washed it and dryed it and it turned out soo cute, its not to crazy. so it would def. be ok for you to wear to work =) hope this helped you xoxo

I know alot of people that do this by pining up the hair that they don't want to dye and leave the hair that they don't want dyed hanging down

pull the top half up, put the dye in the bottom hair, wait for dye to set, then you can go back and dip the tips into the the tips because it can rest on the hair that is already dyed, good luck, you can always dye it back

i am a hair stylist... and if you are dealing with bleaching just the tips of your hair i would recommend that you see a pro...just because you want to make sure it's even....
