On Thursday I got my waist length hair all cut off into a shoulder length layered bob.
*sob*wail*!!!
It was for the best - its been in bad condition since I had my son, falling out in handfuls so its gone thin and I haven't got time to look after it like I used to (I used to oil it 4 times a week) so I decided to go for the chop.
However - the new style I have needs straightening as my hair is prone to kinks and frizz and it would look awful on a shorter layered cut.
I'm worried about straightening it tho. Does it damage your hair? How many times a week should you do it? How can you do it without frying your hair and ruining the condition? I want to grow it long again eventually so don't want to destroy the condition and end up having it all cut off!!!
Any tips would be greatfully received as I'm very new to all this, having always had very long hair that I just plaited or tied back to keep it out of the way.
Ceramic straighteners? How often and how to use?
I recommend Remington Straighteners S2003..they do go quite hot but work quickly and very effectively...if you use a heat protection spray before use then you will reduce/ prevent heat damage...I wouldn't recommend using them everyday but they keep hair straight overnight so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. I got mine for 鎷?5 from Amazon after they were reduced from 鎷?0.
If you don't like these, go on Google and search for straightners for short hair. They will have reviews on which ones work best for your hair type.
Also, I would maybe recommend an intesive care mask for your hair once weekly/monthly so you keep the good condition. These are available from supermarkets, internet, Boots, Superdrug, most general shops really.
Good luck and all the best...Alice xxxx

The best straightener to use is the Chi.
Its very hot but it takes minimum time to do your hair.
Only straighten it about every other day or scrunch your hair.
Alternate between or also one day blow dry it and curl it that isnt as much damage.

There are plenty of products you can buy to put in your hair while it's damp or before you straighten it to protect it. You can straighten it as often as you like, but remember to get your ends trimmed more often because of the split ends you'll get.

Make sure you always use a spray or serum designed for straightening. A coupple of times a week is better than every day. Glass straighteners are good too- speak to your hairdressers for advice on the best things to use.
If you only ever platted your hair or tied it up there was no point having it long- have fun with it now- wear it down lots!!
Dont worry about always straightening- you could put in some moose or serum and scrunch it- waves are in too!!

straightening is fine as long as you prepare the hair first by using pleny of conditioner and then make sure its completly dry before using the straighteners on it. apply a heat protection spray then section the hair starting at the nape of the neck and work your way up. never straighten a section more than twice. 3 times a week is ok to straighten your hair. in between you can blast kinks out with your dryer
